A May wedding at Wannsee in Berlin
Multicultural, cheerful, delicious, and only a tiny bit spoiled by rain: a wedding at Villa Blumenfisch next to Wannsee in Berlin.
Villa Blumenfisch is a historical place with a huge outdoor area, access to the lake and a super-friendly and helpful, inclusive team. I had the chance to accompany a wedding here in spring.
This wedding “came to me” at short notice because I stepped in for a colleague who had fallen sick. Meaning I couldn’t meet the couple personally, as I usually always do, but just meet them on the phone the day before their wedding. We got along brilliantly, however, from the first moment and I was welcomed warmly. I was booked to also document a good part of the preparations which I personally love because there is time and space to mingle, get to know each other – and for everyone to get used to “the nice guy with the camera”.
The fact that no one made a big deal about rain that approached just before the ceremony and that it meant spontaneously moving from the garden into the dining room really sums up the spirit of the day: uncontrived and with a positive energy of improvisation.
A small fact that I remember fondly from this wedding: in the days before the wedding the bride’s aunt had prepared delicious fingerfood with her neighbours in her village in Turkey and brought everything over on the plane to be placed on the buffet. Delicious!
As a wonderful discovery I also took home a playlist of Turkish tango which the couple had played during the preparations in the morning :)
Many thanks to the fantastic team at Villa Blumenfisch.
I’d be happy to show you one or more entire weddings so you get a real idea of what a wedding documentary looks like. If you’re interested just send me a short email to mail(at)tilmanvogler.com.
